Your logbook belongs to you, and cancelling does not take it away. What does change is where it lives: the copy on your devices stays, the copy in the KnotWise Cloud does not.
The account stays, the plan changes
Cancelling does not delete your account. You keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for — the app shows that date — and afterwards the account continues on the Free plan.
What stays on your devices
Everything on the device is untouched: log entries, passages, crew, maintenance, inventory and the photos stored there. You can keep logging on the Free plan, and you can export and back up as before.
What is removed from the cloud
Once the account is on the Free plan, your data is deleted from the KnotWise Cloud — the entries and the files that were synced there. That is what the Free plan is: the logbook lives on your device, and nothing of it is kept on our side.
Several devices
Devices stop syncing with each other. Each one keeps its own copy in the state it was in at the last sync — so if you logged on the iPad and the laptop, the two copies drift apart from that day onwards.
Export before you cancel
Two things are worth doing while the subscription is still running:
- A backup per device — Settings → Data Backup → «Create Backup» writes one ZIP holding everything, photos included.
- The exports you actually want to keep — a logbook PDF for the archive, CSV and GPX for your own records. PDF export needs a paid plan, so do it before the plan ends; CSV and GPX stay available on Free. See Exporting your logbook.
Where to cancel
That depends on where you bought the subscription — the Paddle portal for web and desktop purchases, Apple's subscription settings for App Store purchases. Both routes, and what happens to invoices and refunds, are in Managing your subscription.
