What is a Passage and How Do I Create One?

Modified on Fri, 8 May at 4:19 PM

A Passage in KnotWise represents one complete leg of a voyage — from departure port to destination. All log entries are organised within passages, giving your logbook a clear and navigable structure.

Creating a passage

  1. Navigate to Passages & Logbook in the left sidebar.
  2. Tap or click «+ New Passage».
  3. Enter the departure and destination locations, and the planned departure date.
  4. Save — your passage is now active and ready to receive log entries.

Closing a passage

Once you have arrived, open the passage and tap or click «Mark as completed». KnotWise calculates total distance sailed, duration and average speed automatically from your log entries. You can then export the passage as a PDF for your records.
