The Dashboard — What You See at a Glance
The Dashboard is the first screen you see when opening KnotWise. It gives you an immediate overview of your vessel's current status without navigating into individual sections.
Summary tiles
Four tiles at the top of the dashboard show your cumulative logbook statistics:
- Log Entries — total number of log entries across all passages
- Passages — total number of passages recorded
- Total Distance — cumulative nautical miles sailed across all passages
- Vessel — your vessel name and type
Maintenance widget
Displays your most urgent overdue and upcoming maintenance tasks. Each item shows the task name, category and how many days overdue it is. Click Maintenance → to view and manage all tasks.
Vessel Status widget
Shows the current status of your vessel's key resources as recorded in your last log entry:
- Fuel level — current litres and tank capacity
- Water level — current litres and tank capacity
- Engine hours — total hours logged
- Remaining range (engine) — estimated hours remaining based on current fuel level
Inventory widget
Highlights inventory items approaching their best-before or replacement date, ordered by urgency. Click Inventory → to view and manage all items.
Crew on Board widget
Shows all crew members currently assigned to your active passage, including their role (Skipper or Crew). Click Crew → to manage crew details.
Quick access — New Entry
The "+ New Entry" button at the top right of the Dashboard allows you to add a log entry directly to the active passage without navigating to Passages & Logbook first.
