Emergency, Safety & VHF Reference

The Quick Access section at the bottom of the left sidebar provides three critical reference areas — always reachable in seconds, even offline.

Emergency

The Emergency screen consolidates the information most needed in a crisis:

  • Last known position — coordinates from your most recent log entry, ready to relay to rescue services
  • Mayday procedure — the standard Mayday call format with placeholder fields to fill in during transmission
  • Pan-Pan procedure — the urgent but non-distress Pan-Pan call format
  • Crew on board — all crew members assigned to the active passage, including blood type and emergency contact for each person
Note: The position displayed is derived from your last log entry — not a live GPS fix. Keep your log entries current for this information to be accurate when it matters most.

Safety

The Safety section provides quick reference to essential onboard safety procedures and guidelines — a structured aid for skippers managing safety briefings and emergency preparedness.

VHF Reference

The VHF Reference section provides a quick-access channel guide for maritime VHF radio — covering international calling and distress channels, port operations, marina frequencies and weather broadcasts. Available fully offline.

Why these sections exist

In a real emergency, speed matters. KnotWise keeps critical information one tap away — no internet required, no searching through menus. These sections are designed to be used under pressure, by anyone on board.
