A KnotWise share link gives you a live, read-only view of someone's logbook — no KnotWise account required. Share links look like this: share.knotwise.app/p/[link]
What you can see
- The vessel's passage tracks on an interactive chart
- The current position, based on the most recent log entry
- Filter by season or individual passage
- Wind data overlay (toggle on or off)
- Tap or click «Zoom to boat» to jump to the vessel's last known position
What you cannot see
- Individual log entry details or notes
- Crew details, passport information or personal data
- Maintenance records or inventory
- Any data not yet synced by the vessel's skipper
Is the position live?
The position shown reflects the skipper's last recorded log entry — not a real-time GPS signal. If the skipper is offshore and logging entries at regular watch intervals, the position updates each time a new entry is saved and synced. There may be a delay of several hours between the actual vessel position and what you see on the chart.
The link has stopped working
Share links can be deactivated or deleted by the skipper at any time. If the link returns an error, the skipper has either deactivated it or removed it. Contact them directly for a new link.
