Installing KnotWise as a PWA on iPhone and Android

KnotWise is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — it installs directly from your browser onto your home screen, behaves like a native app and works fully offline. No App Store or Google Play required.

Installation by platform

iPhone (Safari)

Open app.knotwise.app in Safari — other browsers on iOS do not support PWA installation
Tap the Share button (square with arrow pointing up) in the Safari toolbar
Scroll down and tap «Add to Home Screen»
Confirm the name and tap «Add»
KnotWise appears on your home screen and opens as a full-screen app

Android (Chrome)

Open app.knotwise.app in Chrome
Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top right corner
Tap «Add to Home Screen» or «Install App»
Confirm by tapping «Add» or «Install»
KnotWise appears on your home screen and in your app drawer

After installation

Log in with your KnotWise account. If you have a Sync or Share subscription, your logbook downloads automatically. The app works fully offline once the initial sync is complete.

NMEA integration is not available in the PWA or web app. Connecting a chart plotter or GPS receiver via NMEA requires the desktop app (macOS / Windows / Linux).

For the best experience on iPhone, always open app.knotwise.app in Safari before installing. Chrome and other browsers on iOS do not support PWA home screen installation.
